My Spring Garden

Pansy Iris Dianthus Daffodil
Crocus Poppy Lily Tulip
Coming of May
Stella Craft Tremble

The month of May wears a green skirt
And holds her lap of flowers,
Then skipping lightly on her way
Leaves warm and sunny hours.

She dresses woods and vales in green,
Throws daisies on the hill,
Then treading softly in the glade,
She dissipates the chill.

The Alder tree lets down her hair,
Reflected in the pool;
The mountain paths wear silver veils
When early morns are cool.

We've longed for Spring: now she has come
With warmth and laughter gay,
To wake the world and bless the earth
This flowery month of May!

You are never closer to God than when you are on your knees in a garden. This was one of my Mother's favorite songs. Every time I hear it, I remember her.

In The Garden
Austin Miles - 1912

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses.
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am his own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

A Thousand Million Questions
Phillis Michael

There's a thousand million questions
That my daughter wants to know-
In the middle of the summer
When it's hot, why can't it snow?
How can little bitty brown seeds
Into red tomatoes grow?
How do dark clouds up above us
Bring the rain just like they do?
Why does grass grow all around us
'Stead of just a blade or two?
Why do puppies bark to wake us
While Sue's kittens only mew?

There's a thousand million questions
That my daughter wants to ask.
Is it, then, dear Lord, too brazen
Since to answer is my task,
That I beg, oh, please don't let me
Wear a grim forbidding mask;
Let me spare a workday moment
To learn more about such things,
Give me wisdom, daily wisdom,
From your secret hidden springs--
There's a thousand million questions
That my darling daughter brings.
